We require all tax return preparation clients to submit a signed engagement letter to us, in order for us to get started in working on your tax returns. The letter spells out the understanding, scope, and terms of our work, and is designed to protect you as well as us, by clearly defining your role and ours in working together in filing your annual tax returns.

EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT, CHILD TAX CREDIT, AMERICAN OPPORTUNITY TAX CREDIT, AND HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD STATUS QUESTIONNAIRE AND CLIENT CERTIFICATION
The IRS requires that we perform extra due diligence to ensure any taxpayers that claim the following valuable credits or deductions: 1)The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), 2) The Child Tax Credit (CTC), 3) The American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC), and 4) The Head of Household (HOH) Filing Status, to ensure you are qualified to take the credit. We apologize for the intrusiveness of the questions we are required to ask, but there are severe penalties for us as a paid tax preparer if we do not obtain this information from you.
If you are claiming any of those credits or deductions on your current year tax return, please open the file below, and complete it as best you can, and send us a signed copy of it along with your E File signature page(s):
BUSINESS MILEAGE DEDUCTION WORKSHEET
Business vehicle mileage is a popular audit target for the IRS, especially because the documentation rules are so difficult to maintain that the IRS can often disallow most or all of your deduction if the proper documentation is missing. FOREIGN BANK ACCOUNT DISCLOSURE TEMPLATE
If you have non-US bank accounts that at any point during the year exceeded $10,000 (individually or collectively), then you need to file certain annual disclosures each year along with your personal tax return. If applicable, please use the template below to help you gather the necessary information to report your foreign bank account disclosure information:
FORM 1099 INFO REQUEST TEMPLATE
If you pay any non-Corporation vendor for services provided in excess of $600 during the year, you have a reporting requirement to issue a Form 1099-MISC to them. You should be obtaining a W-9 Form from each service provider that you hire, in order to collect the proper information to issue them an accurate 1099-MISC form at the end of the year. 1099 Forms are required to be filed by the end of January, so it is important to maintain that info throughout the year, in order to not be rushed at the filing deadline.

CHARITABLE DONATIONS VALUATION GUIDE
It is common to receive "blank" receipts from charities that take non-cash gifts, such as clothing and furniture. If he charity doesn't provide you with a value for the goods that you donate, feel free to use this handy guide from the Salvation Army to help you in supporting a proper value for your non-cash donations.
